For our family beach vacation this year I made my niece a finger-painting kit, complete with homemade finger-paints, an over-sized t shirt, canvas boards and a trash bag to protect the floor.

Bacon & Tomato Pizza with Alfredo Sauce

I was recently low on groceries so used what I had to make this pizza and was really pleased at how it turned out. I also tried this later with sliced squash instead of tomatoes and also very yummy! So customize however you like.

Makes 2 mini pizzas

Ingredients:

2 mini pizza crusts
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup chopped yellow onions
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan
1 tablespoon grated Cheddar
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons Alfredo Sauce (I like Trader Joe's)
4 slices center cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
2-3 small tomatoes, sliced thin

Directions:

Heat the olive oil in a medium saute pan over med high heat. Add the onions and garlic and saute until the onions are tender.

Spread the onion and garlic mixture over each crust.  Then top each with 1/2 of the Parmesan and Cheddar.

Spread 2 tablespoons of Alfredo Sauce over each pizza and then top with crumbled bacon and slices of tomato.

Finally, dollop 1/2 tablespoon of Alfredo Sauce on top of each pizza and bake @ 425 degrees for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and the crust is nicely browned.

Calories per pizza: about 400

Ryleigh's 5th Birthday Presents

This is part of the present I gave my neice this year: a few pages from an activity book I made for her using TheBookPatch which I have used before and is an inexpensive way to get a book printed.

I also gave her these cute little animal erasers from Japan,

this princess popsicle mold from Williams Sonoma,

and a panoramic owl puzzle I found on Barnes and Noble.

Ryleigh is 5!

This is the card I did for Ryleigh's 5th birthday this year.

Bunny Themed Easter Basket

I made this for Ryleigh this Easter..

Cute little pink Easter basket I got from Hobby Lobby, with the following stuff inside:

These chocolate covered peep bunnies with marshmallow tails and a page from a bunny book, an idea I got from Pinterest

These crunchy peanut butter nests with jelly beans (not bunny themed but just so cute I wanted to make them)

This bunny making kit with 2 large pom poms, 1 small one (for the tail), pink felt ears and feet and a little black felt nose.

And these white chocolate dipped marshmallows using this recipe (without the sticks or sprinkles)

Valentine for Ryleigh

This year I made my almost 5 year old niece a little box full of things for Valentine's Day:

This skillet chocolate chip cookie from Martha Stewart in heart-shaped miniature (made using these paper baking pans):

A little bag of red bear gummies with this sign I made on front (got the idea from this post on pinterest):

A package of pink heart peeps wrapped with a pink yarn bow:

And a LionHeart Making Kit (cut out the hearts and eyes for her and included instructions and the picture) from this post I found on pinterest as well. But I made the tiny nose and eyes pink.

The 5 Hour Cake (that is totally worth it if you have the time)

A few years ago a co-worker requested a German Chocolate Cake for her birthday. I found this Bobby Flay recipe online and decided to give it a try.  5 hours later it was done and I was so mad at that cake (made it on a weeknight). I told the cake (pictured above) it had better be worth it.

And it was!  It was definitely the best German Chocolate Cake I've ever had. But I decided it was only worth it for people who are special to me.

Mini "CheeseCake" for a Picky Eater

There are a lot of things my roommate doesn't like.  And while she does not like all cheeses, she is a big fan of Colby Jack and Mozarella.

So I got the idea from a co-worker, who was making a more adventurous cake out of cheese wheels for her birthday, to make my roommate  a mini one from her favorite cheeses.  And found the cute little peacock plate at Target.  I did put a candle on top too but took the picture before I did.
